Welsh Album of the Year 2014
I just want to say a big thank you to the Eisteddfod for choosing ‘Y Bardd Anfarwol’ for Welsh Album of the Year 2014. I really wasn’t expecting to win when the announcement was made on Thursday night at the Eisteddfod site, as anyone who saw me will be able to testify! There was so much good music on the shortlist, which demonstrated to me how healthy the scene is here in Wales.
The award itself by Ann Catrin Evans is beautiful as well!
I just want to say thanks to those people who worked with me on the album and without whom there is no way it could have been made.
Thanks!
Thanks from the bottom of my heart to Llion Robertson; who did such a great job in producing the album, and to Seb Goldfinch for writing such beautiful arrangements for strings, flute and Chinese instruments. Thanks also to all the musicians that played on the album; the Chengdu Associated Theatre of Performing Arts, the UK Chinese Ensemble, The Mavron Quartet, Richard James, Callum Duggan and Laura J Martin.
I’d also like to thank Richard Chitty from Bubblewrap Collective, with whom it has been a pleasure to work and without whom I’m not sure the record would have seen the light of day.
Many thanks to the British Council and PRSF for choosing me to for the project in China in the first place, and to Wales arts International for supporting my journey East.
Finally, I’d like to thank everyone that has congratulated me over the past few days, both in person or online. The reaction has been very positive and I feel enormously humbled.
